James Donnelly, RA, CPHC

Chief of Housing

James joined Cascadia in January 2023 to help support the goals of improving the housing stock around the Portland metro area and integrating supportive services for the residents.

James earned his Architecture degree from Cal Poly and pursued the traditional architect’s role for 15 years before transitioning to a role supporting the development of affordable housing through a sustainability, resiliency, and energy efficiency lens.  He has lived in many places around the country, and even a year in Australia, and has extensive experience with a variety of building types, methodologies, and uses from the Desert Southwest to New England to the Pacific Northwest.  James is a licensed architect and CPHC (certified passive house consultant).

James spends time volunteering with Architects in Schools, the local foodbank, and more.  Any spare time goes to listening to live music, playing music, and all things HOCKEY!
