Let’s Talk About It! closes out with expert panel on housing and mental health

This fall, Cascadia Health hosted our first mini-event series, Let’s Talk About It!, bringing together community members and Cascadia experts to discuss topics in community behavioral health. Each conversation highlighted ways Cascadia makes a tangible difference tackling the challenges our communities face.

Dozens of community members gathered for dynamic discussions that balanced systems-level insights and on-the-ground perspectives, including:

  • Crisis response: Working across systems to provide 24/7 supports for individuals experiencing mental health crisis.
  • Mental health and stigma: Integrating care and services to contribute to recovery.
  • Housing and health: Meeting people where they are to provide housing supports and help navigate the housing and health continuum.

The final conversation, Housing is Healthcare: Housing Stability and Health Outcomes, concluded the series November 20. A panel of Cascadia experts discussed Cascadia’s integrated service delivery that prioritizes housing and health, early interventions, and preventative care that improve overall well-being. After the panel discussion, attendees participated in a tour of Cascadia’s Garlington Health Center to see first-hand our approach to integrated care.

Thank you to the Cascadia team that led the conversation:

  • Moderator: Alison Dunfee, Senior Director of Community-Based Services
  • Adele Atwood, Street Outreach  Team | QMHA, THW, CADC-R
  • April Urquidez, Street Outreach Team | Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
