Portland Police Bureau Honors Project Respond with Community Service Award

Congratulations to Cascadia’s amazing Project Respond team for receiving the Charles Moose Community Service Award from the Portland Police Bureau at a dedicated ceremony on October 26, 2023. This award is in recognition of Project Respond’s dedication to improving the lives of those in our community who live with mental illness and for enhancing the Portland Police Bureau as an organization by imparting to its members the importance of empowering and supporting people in crisis.

This year, Project Respond celebrates its 30th year of providing crisis response to those in our community, helping individuals regain a sense of control and connecting them with follow-up services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In the past 5 years alone, Project Respond has answered over 73,000 calls from more than 16,600 individuals. Over 96% of these calls were de-escalated in the community, avoiding police involvement or hospitalization.
