As we begin Native American Heritage Month, I encourage everyone to take a moment not only to honor and reflect on the enduring culture, history, and contributions of Indigenous communities [and] to appreciate our community’s ongoing contributions in the present day. This month offers a special opportunity to recognize the profound impact we as Native Americans have had and continue to have.
Therefore, it is essential to remember that our communities have not been relegated to the back pages of history, but in truth we remain a vibrant, active, and central force that continues to shape our collective present and future. We are still here – leading, innovating, and contributing to every aspect of American life.
