Heat Advisory announced for Friday, July 5-Sunday, July 7:
Preparing for potential triple digit weather
Oregon is heading into a heat wave this weekend, according to forecasts. Cascadia Health encourages community members to take this time to review local resources and get prepared.
Local agencies are monitoring heat risk conditions and receiving updates from the National Weather Service and will be prepared to offer cooling spaces as conditions require. Continue to check the Multnomah County website for updates about cooling centers and other resources.
The Joint Office of Homeless Services is launching its enhanced outreach protocols starting Wednesday, July 3, to ensure cooling kits and other hot weather supplies reach people experiencing homelessness.

MultCo’s Help for When It’s Hot webpage (multco.us/hot) is the best place to find the latest information on the County’s emergency response to heat. It includes the topline messages we want the community to know. It’s a great place to direct people to.
- 2-1-1 info: Call to find the cooling center nearest you and for transportation support.
- Public Alerts: Sign up to receive safety alerts in your area.
- National Weather Service: Check the forecast and plan outdoor activities for coolest times of day.

Heat Illness:
Heat illness can affect anyone. We should watch for symptoms in ourselves and others.
Heat illness is more common under certain conditions and for individuals with certain risk factors —especially seniors, infants, children, and people with chronic conditions. Visit Heat Illness and First Aid for more information.
