Welcoming the community to Talbert Health Center
On Wednesday, May 1, Cascadia Health celebrated the official grand opening of its newest health center, Talbert Health Center.
Cascadia CEO Derald Walker and Chief Medical Officer Bukhosi Dube opened the event’s program. Next came remarks from Jill Archer, Vice President of Behavioral Health for CareOregon, and Dave Baden, Deputy Director of Programs and Policy for the Oregon Health Authority. Clackamas County Commissioners Paul Savas and Mark Shull joined Walker, Dube, Archer, and Baden for the ceremonial ribbon cutting in front of the center’s entrance.
“No matter who they are or where they are on their journey, Cascadia clients deserve the best possible care in a space that represents the outcomes they seek,” Dube said during his remarks. “And that’s why we’re excited to be here today, celebrating this space of healing and hope.”
With a $1.8 million investment from CareOregon, Talbert Health Center embodies a trauma-informed design philosophy in line with Cascadia’s vision for clinical excellence. The health center offers a number of added or expanded resources that the previous Clackamas center location could not accommodate, including:
- 13 additional staff workstations
- A designated child and family space in the lobby
- A resource room (including laundry and shower facilities for clients to use)
- A child-sitting and family services room
- Additional group spaces
- 3 additional primary care exam rooms, with the ability to add more down the road
- One extra care coordinator
- The addition of a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner
“We’re extremely grateful to our state and community partners, development team, and outstanding employees,” said Walker. “The vision, creativity, and dedication of these individuals and teams allow us to provide critical care in inviting spaces like Talbert Health Center.”
Walker noted the contributions of Cascadia employees in for their tireless work in making the move to Talbert Health Center a possibility:
- Eric Sevos, Chief Strategy Officer
- James Donnelly, Chief of Housing
- Terri Benge, Director of Administrative Services
- Angie McMillan, Manager of Administrative Services
- Jordan Brower, Administrative Services Manager
- Adin Zlotrg, Manager of Facilities
The opening of Talbert Health Center represented the culmination of collaborative efforts of Cascadia and local partners. Additional thanks go to Colas Construction, our general contractor, and our architects at Scott Edwards Architecture.
